That depends on the requirements in the state where you want to practice.

Contact your state department of professional regulation (DPOR) for more information. Your local association of Realtors or the National Association of Realtors can also provide such information.

In Virginia, it took me about 3 weeks of going to classes nights and weekends, plus time to schedule the test, plus time to find a broker with whom to place my license.

Don't think this is easy---it's starting a business, it's expensive, and it's something you have to work at every day to be successful. The buyers and sellers don't just clamor for your services---you have to work at finding people to help.

About 3 months from start of training to licensure. It only involves a real estate principles course to start. Which can be taken online in a few days. But then you have to apply for a state test, then take the test, then get the results and then submit the results to the State Real Estate Department. Then once you are licensed expect a minumum of 3 months before you get paid. You need to get clients that are willing to buy and most clients spend several months looking before they buy and then once they buy it takes 30-60 days to close the transaction. You don't get paid until the escrow closes.
