I have a single-knob Moen faucet at my lavatory sink. It's slowly gotten very hard to pull the knob out and push it back in. Otherwise, it works fine.

What can I do to make it easier to use?

You will need to replace the cartridge.I think it is a 1225 model. You will also need a special Moen T-handle cartridge tool to remove the old cartridge. Remove knob, remove horseshoe clip, then use notched end of Tee handle to loosen cartridge, screwing wrench into cartridge and carefully working it out of socket.Insert new cartridge all the way in, install horseshoe clip.Turn water back on. Check to see if turning to left brings hot and turning to right brings cold water.Install knob. Hope this helps.

You can take the cartridge out & lubricate it with some silicone grease.

It could be hard to get it out. It would be best to put in a new cartridge. They use to have a bit of grease that you put on.

I don't know that it is really good to drink the water if you put the grease on it. But the new cartridge will be fine.

Moen has a replaceable cartridge. If it is worn out just replace with a new one. It is also the same thing that you replace if you have drips.
