prog death metal- opeth
prog metal- porcupine tree (newer stuff is more metal, but not all tracks)

Rush and Pink Floyd are completely awesome prog rock bands, but they aren't prog metal.
Fates Warning, Communic, Pagan's Mind, Symphony X, Queensryche and Dream Theater are really good. Pagan's Mind and Symphony X take more of a power metal apporach, but they are still very progressive. Also, Death has a lot of progressive elements combined with death metal in their more recent albums (that is, if you like death metal).

The greatest prog-ROCK band is Pink Floyd. As far as prog-metal I'm not too sure.

Queensrych is a good pregressive band. There are many bands that are under the catagory of progressive metal, but I dont know because that is not my style of metal.
