the only good band ive heard lately is kasabian [even though they sound like the stone roses] the rest sound like watered down soft rock or are immitating others such as the jam. in england we have produced some of the best, infuential and most memorable artists in all of the musical genres yet today the music sounds dead and without energy. im not knocking foreign music at all and saying that the uk does it best, im saying that uk music these days is pure b.llokcs. whats to be done?

plasticma i think kasabian are ok but are derivative of things that have gone before. the bands and artists you named are more w@nk than the adult mag section in w h smiths. you really have no idea of what my tastes in music are and because i believe that recent uk bands are cr@p you thought by naming a few pop/dance acts that this would alter my oppinion, youve just strengthened it. massive attacks mezzanine album is a brilliant, dark and sinister piece of work but the rest of thier stuff rubbish in my opinion. dance music is made by talentless wannabe musicians who have developed a skill at playing records and not making music.

As you said Kasabian sound like The Stone Roses, who were fairly influenced by The Smiths, who in turn were influenced by The Jam. No-one seems to have anything fresh to offer at the moment. We need some fresh original talent. Shows how influential The Jam were, they were awesome for their time.

I personally feel that the UK is currently seeing many great bands. I like Kasabian, and looking forward to the new Bloc Party album. Their new single "The Prayer" is terrific stuff. I also like what I've heard from Pull Tiger Tail. Annimator is a great track from them. Personally I follow tracks as opposed to albums, and The Fratellis "Chelsea Dagger & "Henrietta", The Holloway's "Generator", Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly - The Sunshine Underground. Brilliant brilliant band, "Commercial Breakdown" being my personal favourite song released this year. The Automatic with "Monster", Raoul" & "Recover" and many more. Where I personally feel they are going wrong is with this crap "New Rave" !!! Can't understand it, and The Klaxons are crap.

heard any David Holmes or Luke Slater or massive attack

out and buy some decent music and get some taste.

It peaked with The Stone Roses and Oasis.
Since then everyone has tried to copy what they think is punk (Green Day) and thats why you have awful rock music.
I also blame the Record companies for going after ££££ instead of talent.
There are some good bands out there but they are hard to find among the dross.
