This question is aimed directly towards Texans on probation, but holds significance to anyone believing that abortion is wrong, that it is a personal right to do so, and/or that America is seriously pushing the limits on violating our rights.
My husband is on probation is Texas. Just the other day, he was waiting to see his P.O. when he heard her and another P.O. talking. Apparently, that Officer had a woman on his case load who had 8 children and is only 24. She can't hold a steady job because of how frequently she gets pregnant. Their main source of income for support is SSI, but SSI only pays enough to support the family, not pay probation.
Now, this P.O. is debating revoking her probation and telling her that if she wants to avoid prison, she has to get an abortion of her current pregnancy and get her "tubes tied" no longer allowing her to have any children. And my hubby's P.O. agreed that it would be the perfect solution!
Is this even legal?! Because it is morally disgusting...

In my area, it is not uncommon for girls as young as 13 and 14 getting knocked up and still deciding to keep their babies. As for multiples, I haven't a clue.

The story from your husband is totally untrue. A probation officer who suggested a criminal act like requiring a probationer to have an abortion or requiring a probationer to have her tubes tied would be fired and would be prosecuted for official misconduct.

Has it occurred to you that your husband is just telling you another lie?

Did he tell you that he really didn't commit the crime he is on probation for?

And now he has uncovered a plot to force women to have their tubes tied and to have abortions?

Does he know the real killers of JFK? And that George W. Bush masterminded the attacks on 9/11/2001?

I think your husband, for whatever twisted reason, is telling you this totally fabricated story and you want to believe it. Are abortion or tubal ligation "hot button" topics with you?

Which is worse - your husband for lying through his teeth to you, or you for believing it?

I would think that threatening to send someone to jail unless they had an abortion would be illegal....no matter how many kids she already has.

I also think that threatening to send someone to prison unless she sterilizes herself would be illegal and a violation of her rights.

Is there some way to turn these folks in? As for 8 kids---are some of them adopted? step kids? She must be having multiples or they were exaggerating because she would have been having 1 a year since she was 15 otherwise.

I agree this is disgusting.

To force a abortion no, Constitutionaly they have no right to do anything, If they attempt to convince this person that she must they are lieing. Abortion has horrible effects on people yeah sure it might seem like a good idea at the time but in the long run... Not good. Alot of women who get abortions commit suicide out of guilt there have been lots of lawsuits of people under promoting suicide, By telling them to get an abortion.

Those 8 kids of her's have a good chance of being future criminals. She doesn't need to be having any more.
