My parents just found out that my uncle (dad's brother) stole all of our Christmas ornaments. They were sentimental, and we don't have the money to buy any new ones. We just got a tree, but don't have anything to decorate it with. What should we do?

Got any Tin foil or pop corn?
It can be fun to make some new ones yourself.

Your parent's might want to go ask your uncle for your ornaments back.

Or you could all go to your uncles so you can enjoy your ornaments - maybe he'll be inconvienced enough to return them

Your uncle is a very sad person to be stealing Christmas Ornaments. Be an overcomer. Give him the Christmas Present he isn't expecting!

First of all I would ask the Uncle if he got them by accident and if so could he return them? If you can't get them back then try to be crafty and make your own. You could do the old fashion thing like stringing popcorn or cranberries. You could get some stiff wrapping paper cut in strips and make the old fashion paper chains.
Or another thing you could do is ask all your friends if they have old ornaments they are not going to use this year, that they could give to you. Mix and match things. you could even use house hold items like cookie cutters add bows and use on the tree.
Hope you could use some of these ideas

Kinda sucks that your uncle would do that but you have the unique opportunity to start a new (old!) tradition: MAKE Christmas ornaments. I'll bet you can find a TON of resources online but I know people used to string popcorn, for example. They also used to include photos of friends and family (living and deceased). Get friends and family together to make ornaments (what a great excuse to have a gathering!).

Put lights on it... make ribbons or streamers out of any old sheets - sweaters - anything old and recycleable. Place memorable pictures on the branches and there you have a tree of memories. Forget uncle... and don't put any pictures of him on that tree.
