I tried making one when I was about 8 years old...with my mom or dad's help, I think. It didn't turn out very well. The pic was all grey, maybe from too much exposure time. But I lost interest as a result. I might have been a little young or impatient for this project.

i made a pinhole camera in photo class. I took photos with it for like a month too. just remember, the photos that you pull out of the camera to develop will be negatives. To get a positive put a piece of photo paper face to face with your negative photo on top and turn on an enlarger for a short amount of time(exposure times will depend on enlarger and darkness of original negative). Also, if you want to get the fish-eye lens effect(picture distorted, stretched more and more, the further out you get from the center), you can make a pinhole camera from an oatmeal container(or other round container). I haven't tried this method, but i have heard people who swore that it worked. One more thing to keep in mind, the success of your pictures depends on how well crafted your pinhole camera is: make sure it is light tight, the inside is painted black, and the proportions are right(unfortunately I don't know what the proportions are supposed to be, but i am sure a simple google search could tell you.) Most importantly: have fun!
