Sub-questions:

Which age group/ sub-culture consumes the most music (as in, spends money on it).

Next, which age group/ sub-culture gets the most music free (without paying for it)?

Why am I asking this? See, I read an article that says that a certain age group spends more money on music than everyone else. I'm not naming that group. Anyway, I find that article a little hard to believe.

Your answers, please. Thank you.

I would actually say both would be Teens.
teens spend the most money on music because they're way more into it than adults, and a lot of teens download music illegally for free.

These are all in terms of the percentage of people who obtain music at all for further reference.

The average age group who legally pays for their music is the range of 30-38 year olds. Others either listen to the radio or download music for free. The most common sub-genre of music that buys their music for free is 70's-80's pop.

The age group that gets the most music for free is the range of 11-22. Use of sites like Limewire, Ares, Bearshare and the rest of them all fall into this category. The heaviest free-music sub-genre of music is modern rock but closely followed by modern pop and rap.

I believe I read a similar article once but these ranges might be a little off but if I'm not mistaken they should be fairly accurate. And why you're asking this is to get public opinion on what their thoughts are. It's normal actually, quite common to check with another source before coming to conclusions.
