When I decide to drink my beer, how does this thought get translated into the physical action of lifting and sipping the beer? If the thought itself is actually a physical entity (which gets the physiological ball rolling), then how does the process of creating this physical thought work?

hmm. Did you know beer is actually good for you if you drink it A BIT each few days. But that is besides the point. Ok here we go. First, you see the beer. You associate this with "Yum, I should drink it." So your thought is stimulated with the sight of the beer. Then as you think this your brain sends electrical signals to your body. The electrical signals go to nerves which then tell the muscles to move/contract/relax to make the correct motion. Taaa-daaa!

Your brain, once you satisfy your urge, releases endophins and makes you feel good for making the decision to do what you wanted to do. you have been "rewarded" by your brain for good behavior.
