Go for it. Check out fares after the holidays end. Get a Let's Go or Lonely Planet book on Spain and see where you want to spend your time. If you're going that far, don't limit yourself to a week. Their hours are very different than you are used to. Places are closed in the afternoons and dinner begins around 8 or 9 p.m.
Try to learn at least a few phrases in Spanish. It's off season now and less expensive. The trip will be a coming of age for you and an adventure you will always remember.

A trip to Spain would be wonderful, but unless you are loaded with money, I think you should take more time to plan such a trip.
Just planning it may help you get out of the dumps. Go to frommers.com or expedia.com, or even lonelyplanet.com, and do some research. Women safely travel alone all the time. Best wishes.

You deserve this trip after many years of school, go ahead and treat yourself. As for the cost, right now it should'nt be that expensive. Just look for an all inclusive that way your covered for flight, hotel, and meals, and when you get there you can take in the free sites and sounds. You will make many new friends over there, just brush up on your Spanish. Have fun!

Great idea! It's really no one's business but your own. (Parents.) Just evaluate for yourself, & don't pay a tad of attention to what anyone else says. (Except me, of course!) Going alone or with a friend depends on YOU, & what you think you'd most enjoy. You have lots more freedom if you go alone, but if you have a friend with whom you are totally compatiable, that would work. YOUR decision. Sometimes it takes spontaneity to "break" (or modify) a current pattern in your life. NOT crazy. Go for it!

Limbo, I would highly recommend you go with someone. Traveling alone overseas is just not kosher for a single person today.

As far as cost goes, let your fingers do the talking, get online and check prices that way.

Hey, it's not crazy, sounds fun! Would be nice to go with someone, to have someone to share the fun with, but if you want to go on your own then why not? Just be careful, that's all. I went to Barcelona during the summer with my bf and we had a great time - wish we had a bit longer. Try Barcelona yourself, you'll love it!

Don't go alone! I'm serious, what would make you feel more low than being on an awesome vacation alone, with nobody to share it with.
