we have a 7 mo norwegian dwarf rabbit. she is always so full of energy - nonstop movement. these last two weeks she has been very lethargic, just sitting and laying a lot. we think its because she is cold but when we pick her up, she is warm. today we noticed a lot of hair in her cage. is this normal or should we be worried?

Rabbits do shed/molt their coats. What is the weather like in your area in which you rabbit is in? Changes in climate can force them into a molt, and they can start to shed hairs.

However, at 7 months old, a dwarf rabbit is not an adult and at this age, they are instinctual ready to breed. She may not be bred, but she can still pull hair in preparation to build a nest just because she wants to be a mommy.

Changes in normal behavior can sometimes be something of a concern. Make sure she is still eating and drinking. Also make sure she is not constipated, that you do see her still urinating and her poo pellets are still normal.
Sometimes a rabbit will "go off feed", so if she is not eating as much, this may not be a concern as long as she is still drinking water.

Offer some familiar treats to maybe get her appetite back if this is a the case. An imbalance in the digestive system can make a normal energetic rabbit become lethargic, so I would start there with making sure she is eating/drinking good and if not, seek a vet ASAP.

You didn't say how long you have had her, but rabbits commonly tear their hair out in preparation for having babies. Good Luck!!

Phone the vet for advise then if necessary take her for a check-up, poor little thing might be stressed and lonely!
