People who get upset over "happy holidays" feel like the PC folks are stealing christmas from them. They get upset over religious symbols removed from public places and they feel like modern martyrs. They're not too happy anyway and so they dont' want someone telling them to be happy for a generic holiday.
I think it's all terribly ironic cos Christmas is based on pagan holidays anyhow.

Who's complaining about someone saying Happy Holidays? People say, "Merry Christmas" because we're celebrating Christmas. Jewish people say, "Happy Hanukka" because they're celebrating Hanukka! I've never heard of a Pagan holiday greeting, so, ya got me there. I think we should all be thankful that someone cares enough to greet us in any positive manner! Just be and let be and love humanity. Don't sweat the small stuff, it's not worth it. Happy Holidays to you.

Just being nice to people in general means more to me than whether a person says Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas, but I just happen to like saying Merry Christmas and hearing it said to me. As long as the people have a smile on their face when saying it means the most, than having someone grumble it almost under their breath and NOT mean it.

There is nothing wrong with anyone using the term happy holidays, We just want people to stop telling us that saying Merry Christmas is wrong. You are right. People should use what ever term they are comfortable with and let others do the same.

it doesn't bother me in the slightest...why should it? becoming a Christian didn't give me an excuse to be an immature whiner, which is how many so-called 'Christians' appear...there IS NO 'war on Christmas'...it's a big bunch of hooey dreamed up by the nuts on the far right to sell 'conspiracy theory' books, boost ratings for faux news and give glenn beck something new to lie and whine about(after all, with terry schiavo's death, he kind of ran out of material)...this is a great time of year, people, so how about setting a good example for the kiddos and leave politics, hate, religious discord, and all that junk out of it...enjoy the holidays, whichever one(s) you choose to celebrate!

Greetings in any form is a positive thing.
If someone tells me Merry Christmas, I will simply say have a good year. It's not up to me to point out how Pagan Christmas is. Most people already know.

Hey, one pagan here happy to hear either happy holidays, or merry christmas, blessed yule, happy kwanza, whatever anyone wants to wish me. It all amounts to well-wishes anyhow, so it doesn't matter if I celebrate the holiday or not.

Saying Happy Holidays is just fine. But about Christmas, why
would a person that does'nt believe in Jesus want to celebrate
a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ? What do you
think the CHRIST in CHRISTMAS stand for? It means that the
birth of CHRIST is celebrated by the MASSES(meaning many
people celebrating the same thing at the same time) hence the
the name CHRISTMAS.

It doesn't neccessarily bother me. I'm fine with people saying "Happy Holidays," though it gets a tad annoying at times. Seriously, has there ever been a case where someone was actually *offended* by someone saying "Merry Christmas" to them?

I celebrate Yule and Christmas from the point of view that it is a time for being with my family. I have pagan friends who wish me seasons greetings and I have christian friends who wish me merry christmas.
The real meaning of christmas is that it is a time for being with those you love...if that is religious love, familial love or friend love, it doesn't matter. The presents and the food mean nothing otherwise.
