If you don't know what to use it for, why do you want one?
I use mine for anything from sharpening my lawn mower to reshaping dowels for woodworking projects.
You can get a decent bench grinder almost anywhere for under $100.
If you want a professional grade grinder, you can figure $250-up, depending on the size.

lt helps, but l have 1 bolted to my bench and the other 1 portable ( screwed to a 2' X 2' peice of plywood to it so l can quickly screw the plywood down to other surfaces as l need to), for quick on the job sharpening.

When buying tools like this always look for the made in USA label. Check out Sears. Can't beat Craftsman quality.

I have a grizzly from grizzly.com and it has last 10+ years. You can sharpen just about anything.

I like my Craftsmen, Ask your husband for the many uses, they are very handy in the work shop.

many types just go to any hardware store they are all pretty much simply machines....basically a motor with a shaft....
