Serial killers do not have the sort of normal motivations that "normal" killers have i.e.(wife sleeping with another man, humiliation in public etc.). Thats what makes them insane, they kill for pleasure or fun which is why the police can never know why or who or what they will do next? Where as with "normal" killers, detectives can ask around and see if there was a marital dispute recently or stuff like that, and then find the husband. Stuff like that. Also, serial killers are insane and "plan" it all out, which makes them more careful in not getting caught. Where as "normal" killers will murder without a thought and in as they say "the heat of the moment". Rage ends with the Cage, as I always say...
