The trouble is i think he is ok but i dont funcy him, and there are 3 reasons for that. 1) I want to concentrate on my studies 2) i usually would go for goths or maybe emos 3) it does not feel right The trouble is he does not understand. What shall i do?

You have valid reasons for not dating him. If he doesn't understand them, then you have another reason for not dating him.

Emos?! Oh my God I'm OLD! What the heck is an EMO?! I thought I'd never live to see the day I wouldn't know what a thing young people talked about was. (that make sense?). Well listen, if emos are anything like goths don't go out with emos. And as far as going out, listen sometimes its good to just have a friend - learn how to do that. Have fun and be well. Stay away from Emos, ok?

You can always tell him that right now you want to focus on your studies and feel that a relationship will distract you. And that while you are flattered that he likes you, you see him only as a friend and right now, that is the only thing you can offer him...Your friendship. If he asks you the same question a few weeks later, give him the same answer. You don't have to be creative in turning guys down, just consistant. Good Luck! ;)

If you don't fancy him fair enough, be honest, that's life. Tell him you like him as a friend and if that changes you will call him. But you might find giving him a chance is good and will make a change for who you usually go for. You will find as you get older (sounds like you are new to the dating game) that the guys we usually go for have a pattern of behaviour of hurting us and it's in the ones we don't expect that we find happiness. You can do that and study!

Oh, it's a Tribal thing!

None discriminatory then.

Well, it's nice to see the world is changing, at last.

On the other hand, Reason 1. is a good reason. Reason 3...? well, it's passable as excusable ....and as I don't understand, then I'm sure as hell he isn't going to either.

Maybe if you tried simply AND politely explaining that...

'I thank you for your interest, but although you may be a lovely guy, I'm afraid that I'm not interested.'

How about that?

Sash.

Be gentle but firm. If you go out with him, he will think his persistence paid off and will keep holding a torch for you and possibly badgering you for another date. All you can do is be honest. I am assuming you are a bit of a goth yourself, so it shows he can't be too bad if he is going for something out of his normal "sphere", so he deserves to be treated fairly, but that doesn't mean you should have to do something you don't want to. He would probably be mortified if he knew he was making you feel this way.

I know what you mean ive been in your shoes! tell him the truth otherwise if you lie the truth will come back to you. When i was in that position i told him how i felt and that me and him would only be friends and he understood that, thats how he knew he had to stop then as i didnt want to lead him on. Hope all goes well and jst tell him how you feel! xxXxx

no, they're all wrong apart from mark.

u need to speak to him.

tell him u r flattered by his interest and u like
him as a friend. but no more.
u don't have to tell him it is about study, it will give him false hope.
don't tell him u don't fancy him either. that will hurt his confidence.

just tell him u prefer goths.
that would be enough to put me off !!!

tell him u don't mind being friends but NO more than that.

sounds ok to me.

Hey sweet you just need to accept that he likes you and leave it be. He'll soon get the message when you don't call. If he gives you his number again then "lose it" by accident; whatever you do though don't be mean about it to him.

i think that you should take him to one side and tell him that at this moment your not looking for a relationship beacause you are too busy with your studies and that you would rather be 'just' friends with him, and nothing more let him down gentley remeber he has feelings too and if he still doesnt understant let him know that if he doesnt respect your wishes then you'd rather not be his friend either good luck!!

Tell him you like him as a friend but as a boyfriend he is just not the type you go for. It will have to be friends or nothing.
