Here is another one which I asked a blind guy the other week ago who has dialysis at the same hospital as me, I meant this as a bit of fun to cheer him up and he did. When a blind person has a woopsie, how do they know if their back sides are clean and the loo paper goes into the loo bowl??? I dont mean any offence to blind people, but it amazes me how they do all these things, which I myself find some things hard

A blind person who has been blind from birth or an early age may have different abilities to one who was blind later in life. I would guess that a blind person would ask someone they trust for advice if they are not able to dress themselves.

In my experience, blind people appear to be more than capable of dressing themselves. They are not always able to tell when they have spilled egg or beer on their suit though.

Not all blind people are totally blind, like we are if we close our eyes. They may be able to discern colours. they will also still have a sense of touch and so be able to recognise their clothese from the feel of them. they could therefore with the help of a good friend buy clothes that look good and remember which things go together. A blind person I knew once usually looked OK, but not brilliantly co-ordinated.

Not everyone is as cold hearted as you think, besides a carer who probley visits regularly to help a blind person with needed item of clothing.

I'm sure shop assistants do a good job choosing out suitable garments for their tastes, you can still feel the texture of the material and judge quality.

Colour doesnt necessarily have to be a big issue, im sure a shop assistant will choose neutral colours such as plain blacks, and plain whites, to help the blind person blend in with society.

when you are blind you rely very much on detailed descriptions of things and the sense of touch. if their friend describes the clothes in good detail to them, a blind person would feel the material to decide whether or not it feels good, comfy or stretchy enough etc. colour is difficult though, if they have been able to see for part of their life then gone blind they will know what colours they like and dislike, however if they have never seen colours it must be very hard to decide which colours you like and which colours look good with other colours. hope that helps.

a blind person will probably put much more emphasis on material seen as touch is a sense that means something to them.
just because they can not see exactly what they look like, I am sure somedays they feel more attractive than others, just like a person with sight.

I think they probably have special tags made up that they put on each article of clothing to identify certain pieces. I'm sure they take someone they trust out shopping with them!
