how can I tell if it's a fox or a coyote? It's pretty big...and it gets into our garbage a lot!
(I live in Florida)

I think its a wolf but I would report it to animal control just so they can get the situation under control, because remember there's always that possibilty that it may hurt someone.

Probably a coyote, they are more common than foxes, larger, and more likely to inhabit urban areas. Someone said a wolf, not possible, wolves have never ranged as far south as Florida, and can barely be found anywhere within the U.S. anymore. You need to secure your garbage cans so the coyotes cannot get into them. If there is food available they will keep coming back for more.

Most likely a coyote. Here are photos of a gray fox and coyote. Notice the much longer legs of the coyote.
Could also be someone's dog...
All can be found in Florida.

Its definitely not a fox if it looks like a dog. I would say its a coyote or a wolf. Try sealing your garbage cans better.

Hi. Take a picture if you can and show it to your local animal control official.
