About a month ago....I had purchased a Nokia 7270 phone due to the fact that some bastard stole my Nokia 6101. The problem is that I can't some of the settings to work. AND.....Yes - I have gone to the site Nokia.com/asia/us/whatever......AND yes....I did download the set-up settings which are provided free by Nokia.

However....(I'm all new to cell phones and the Nokia 6101 was the first cell also..I don't know the "rules"...or what to look for in a phone...blah blah) However.....I did call T-mobile, my service provider, and they told me that because it wasn't a Nokia T-mobile phone brand, that I would unable to get t-zones, wallpapers, ringtones, etc. So I asked the customer service person:

"SO BASICALLY...YOU ARE SAYING THAT THIS PHONE IS ONLY GOOD FOR JUST MAKING PHONE CALLS AND DOING TEXT MESSAGING"

and she said "YES"....we can configure it for you to get email and instant messaging and what have you but it would only last a couple of days.

????....so am I stuck?

You could flash the phone with T-Mobile's version of the 7270 firmware. You could fry your phone attempting this. It also seems to require a 200 Euro box to do at the moment. Try asking over in http://www.nokiafree.org/forums/ and see if anyone can tell you how to get into the gprs configuration files and get you the settings for T-Mobile.
