Ask for a new office, pronto!! Sorry you have to deal with that. Seriously though, how about you maybe make a joke about someone ELSE that smells bad. Maybe a client or visitor or co-worker that you both dislike. Say something like "When was the last time HE had a bath." Maybe the owner-of-the-funk will take the hint.

always keep something in your hand that looks like work so that way you can bell out and use the I have a lot of work to do if that is not the case then just tell them that you are gonna have to get back to your area if it is that bad if you consider this person a friend just tell them they need to fix it. Buy them a gift basket for christmas as a gift make sure it is pretty and be nice i dont care if it is a dude be nice

Have everyone buy him or her nice bath products and laundry soaps as "secret santa" gifts. Offer him or her a breath mint when you are having one; if he or she refuses, politely say, "I think you should have one." Talk to management if it is truly that terrible; this person might have underlying problems or disorders that cause him or her to forget to bathe or do laundry or otherwise impair him or her from proprerly caring for him or her self.

Talk to the manager, they will take care of it. Or you can put up potpourri around your cubicle. Also, try telling them about a perfume or cologne that you have just picked up and you think is really good.

I have been in that situation. The person probably doesn't realize that they smell bad. This is what I what I said, "do you take a shower?"
