I'm going for my masters in social welfare, and at the moment im working on applications. in terms of finding jobs, does it really matter what grad school I go to? am i likely to have much more success in finding jobs if i go to san francisco state rather than hayward state( now csu east bay)? does it really matter what grad school you go to, and, if so, in what ways?

also, do employers look at your gpa when youre first applying for jobs after you earn your masters?

thanks.

It really depends on the employer, I am an employer and I do look at the grad school the employee attended but even more importance is placed upon your personal interview. The gpa is always a factor ,usually if you are employed and get your Masters while employed the gpa is not looked at only if you are applying after you graduated. I believe a lot may be left up to the company you interview with.

Good luck,

Joe

Actually it does matter ; coz its always prestigious to get your degreee from a reputed institution with high standards coz it shows you adhere to those high standards :)

nevertheless wherever you go, your personal grades are always the biggest indication of your knowledge & hard work..

being in a reputed institution doesnot mean one should become lax in studies..

In that field it doesn't really matter - all that matters that you get you MA (or MSW in this case).

Good Luck!!!
