we are living in spain now trying to scrape a living out of one of the local bars i recently had a person in that said he has just received £200 heating allowance which he is entitled to as he is oap i know that he probably worked all his life in the uk butis this necessary in spain? we chose to leave the uk regardless i do not expect unemployment benefit if the bar fails (would be good though)

No, sadly, the grand old lady is on her last leg!
To many users and abusers in the system, like a lifeboat in a huge ocean, its taken all in sundry on board, regardless to right or wrong, she is listing and will sink if nothing is done.
Cant blame the users and abusers, if its there, you are foolish not to take advantage, EVERYONE ONE DOES.

I've said it on other Q's that the standards have slipped so much in the past few years that Britain is now unrecognisable as the once Great country it once was.
The reason they are getting the money sent out to Spain is, yes they are entitled to it because, presumably they are of pensionable age, and a small loophole that lets the money be paid to their account no matter where they live.
How morally questionable it is to take money that you don't really need, is not up to me to say. But it appears to me that everybody seems to be trying to get money out of the U.K. taxpayer anyway they flippin' well can!

When Julius Caesar worked out there were a number of islands off the coast of Gaul, he called the biggest one Great Britain and the next biggest one Little Britain. The name Great Britain stuck, but the only thing great about it is it's size. (The other one's now called Ireland)

It is "Great" in the sense that it is the largest of the British Isles.
And btw old know all, Ireland was called "Hibernia" by the Romans; "Little Britain" refers to Brittany in France (among other places).

some good answers i just have the same to say that yes we need to get rid of all the immigrants and the crime rate would drop dramatically, and yes ur in the best place if ur british you still have to work hard here because all the benefits go to the foreign people

Britain used to be the best in the world and it was great but now it is one of the poorest. They neglect the old, the disabled and everyone who doesnt work etc.. and Blair our poodle licks Bushes bumb like a poodle licking a rotty's ****.

I was in Spain one March and it was none too warm then.
As for Britiain ... I would never have believed that my country could go downhill so fast. If only I could afford to move to Spain.

u best stay in Spain mate nought great about the UK unless you got a job in government or you on the scrounge from one of them foreign country's be great if we could send em all back and even greater if we could get the money back lol
