Mice are just smelly. You could open a window because air freshener drives the crazy, or you could buy gerbils instead, Gerild are not agressive, they are clean animals with alot of personality.

I had three girls together in one tank. With regular weekly cleanings, there was almost no smell at all. I have switched to males, (in my experience, they bond closer with humans), and one male will stink up a room. It makes you want to clean the cage more, but that often makes it worse. If their cage doesn't smell of them, they are more inclined to over mark. For personality reasons I still prefer the males, but you're looking into females, so you shouldn't have much of a problem with the smell. Mice really are well worth it, great little pets.

hello, mice are great pets! about the smell... im not sure why they would be smelly ive had pet mice. make sure you have good bedding like pine not cedar) cedar is really bad for them. also how many mice do u have? maybe u need a bigger cage. i would call a pet store and tell them about their problem. i did have a hairless rat though that had a slight oder to him kinda like a stinky foot(LOL) but for him that was normal. so try what i said and see if it helps ..jewels good luck!!

Unless there is something wrong with the mice? Or it might be the lining you are using for the cage.Males also tend to smell more than girls. We had female mice because they do not smell.

don't listen to the others, mice are beautiful creatures from god, just like you or me. Try brushing them with a toothbrush, or maybe change the type of bedding, like coarse woodchips are cleaner than lint or newspaper. and consider a bigger cage, more room might be better. hang on to them, mice are wonderful :)

when you change the cage or aquarium you need to wash it out with Clorox and worm water. they like to pee in the corners. mix at 1/4 cup of Clorox to 1gal of water this will fix the stink.

give them a bath in GENTLE soap, like dove dishsoap, dont get it in their eyes, then keep the cage clean... a little trick i learned, after you dump the sawdust, before putting new sawduct in, sprinkle a light layer of baking soda, then put in sawdust... its works reall well and wont hurt your pet..
ps..NEVER use cedar chips to line a pets cage, it totally burns their skin.. get pine sawdust... that works great

Buy a snake or a hawk. They'll get rid of the smell for you and that's permanent.
