Being tall is a huge advantage in Ballroom. You should go and take some classes. You can find classes in your area on www.ballroomdancers.com or on www.dancespot.uk.com
The sence of rhythm will develop and improve over time as you take classes.

Do it. My dance class is a mixed bag: tall, short, heavy, slight, couples, singles, young, seniors, and various nationalities. Everyone feels awkward at first --no one judges any one else because everyone was a beginner once. As for rhythm, don't worry: women keep the rhythm while men lead.
To help make it a success, get some beginner "dance music" CD's (Strictly Dancing does a good line) and start listening to pick up the beat. It's easy once you understand that all dance music is done to standard beats.

As for anxiety: once you divert your attention to the music and learning, your anxiety disappears.
Enjoy it.

You are the perfect height for many dances, I must definitly recommend, Waltzing, Salsa and Merengue, and or any of the more formal ballroom dances. I think you would make an excellent partner. The thing to do is becaome one with the music, put on a few songs, sit back relax, close your eys and let the music take over you, this is how you prepare for dancing. It will work, and help you to relax. Good luck and I am sure you will be excellent!

You can try. So long as you concentrate on how you will look, how others will percieve you, you won't be focused on learning the things you need to learn in order to be a success.

Have an open mind, Be positive, By taking a chance you are making a huge positive step. No matter if you never get rhythm you will be a success just by trying, learning something new and you'll feel great about making that choice. Hope it goes great!

Hi, My 20 year old step son is 6'10". He is a little shy, but is in basketball of course. He gets used to the tall comments. I am sure he would like a day off from them though. I am 5'10. Trust me...go to dance class and any tall woman will want to dance with you, the short ones too. Go have fun.

Justin the first thing you need to do is stop making excuses.
Dancing is one of the great art forms, and certainly a class
act. So if you are overwhelmed with this burning desire you've
but one thing to do, dance. Height isn't what it all comes down
to, it is belief in ones self combined with self confidence.
Remember this , the reason a bird can fly is because it thinks it
can. Good luck to you.

6ft 6in tall wow my kind of man. i say get out there and do it! a tall guy is great for dance, they have strength for lifts and excellent lines. i suggest taking some ball room lessons a great way to meet the ladies.

but there are other types of dance too. tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, pop ect. and also don't worry about your age either there are lots of adult classes out there all you have to do is check it out.
i teach an adult tap class who are all beginners and are having a great time doing it and also it's a great way to stay in shape.

so get out there what are u waiting for???!!!

There's nothing more attractive than someone who TRIES. When I see people dancing, believe it or not, I don't notice how good or bad they are. I respect the fact that they have enough guts to get out there and have fun. Just be open-minded about it, don't expect to be perfect, and HAVE FUN!

p.s. what exactly are you concerned about?
