made me want to ask if others have ever been turned on or turned off by the way someone said their name, or pronounced it?

My name is often mispronounced and it took until the last few years before I would correct people on the pronumciation. My exhusband said it in a way that I absolutely hated and thought it was funny, so of course he did it all the time. Then I had a boyfriend who, when he said my name, he made it so beautiful and deep that I melted everytime I heard it. I didn't like my name until then....now, lol, I really pay attention to the way it is said....praticularly in intimate situations.....

Anyone else have similar experiences? See, my name is Audra...people always say Audrey, Andrea.....its been a pain. Now I like it, but I am pretty firm on people pronouncing it correctly.

I love the song too!

Nikki, people are not idiots just because they pronounce something wrong. They refer to what they more commonly hear.

Lujano is a pretty name too!

There is a line in the song where he says "hearing you say my name, it sounds so sweet, coming from the lips of an angel etc...." Now do you see what it had to do with the song? If you knew what it was written about you would have gotten it. Besides the song wasn't the question, and people with ordinary names would never have the issue I was asking about.

to Becca, I wanted to name my daughter Rebecca but her dad forbid it. I know what you mean, they do do that in the south. My daughter is now Genevieve and blessed with the same issues of pronunciation as I am.

Sally G......having a daughter with that name....I bet you are familiar with the issues...but you chose one that is more common than Audra...

Okay I agree with Reaper G.. What does this song have to do
with your name? (1. ) I do like the song.( 2. ) I'm not tired of the song. (3.) Yes, I do know How to pronounce your name. (3.) I
do know the difference between Andrea and Audra, they are two
different names. I have a daughter name Andrea and some people call her Aundrea. But I still don't understand why you came up with the song instead of your name?

I am thoroughly sick of that song.
And yes, it is very annoying when people pronounce your name wrong. My name is Rebecca. Down here in the south it often gets pronounced "Re-back-up." It drives me insane. And I hate being called Becky, but people do it anyway. I'm very quick to correct people who call me Becky.

i can relate. having an easy but often (almost always) mispronounced maiden name, i corrected people all the time. my married name is also easy but still mispronounced. sounds like it is spelled. if people would just take some time to "sound it out" life would be so much easier.

what kind of idiots are you hanging around that can't get audra right?

Isn't it pronounced just like it is spelled? "Awe dra"................... Or maybe the u is silent so its "A dra" but I would just guess the first one.
