I wanted to get a Nintendo Wii for my son in very early March 2007 but I have heard that Nintendo are think of updating and re-releasing the Wii. Does anyone know if this is true?
Also, it shall go down in price and not include Wii Sport?
Please tell me any information you know about the Price, updates etc of the Nintendo Wii...

Also! My son has kinda fallen in love with the Wii so I don't want him to be disappointed if a newer, better version comes out. Such as when the DS Lite came out just after the orginal DS. =S

Lucky him. I don't think the prices will drop that soon but some stores might have them on sell by then. I'm relatively sure they are not making any major updates, any updates so far have been available to download wirelessly over the internet. In march some good games will be out by then like super smash brothers, but then again most all of the games are good. Don't be worried about the price too much, just look at how much other people are paying. For same amount as just the PS3 you can buy the Wii and 7 games! Plus the new releases are $10 then the other guys.

The Wii is going to receive software updates over the internet just like every other next gen console out right now (Xbox360/PS3), so don't let that scare you from making your purchase.
The updates are not necessary to enjoy the Wii console, but are there only to add new features such as classic games to download and new channels to their lineup. As far as being able to put in a game disk and play, nothing is going to change.
Since it's already priced attractively at $249, don't look for a price drop any time soon. It usually takes a year or two for this to happen whith a new game console. Do your family a favor, and buy the Wii. It's a lot of fun (I have one).

I'm not sure whether it is goin to be updated but it might. I ordered myself one 2 days ago, and i'm number 40 on the waiting list. I suppose it will always come with the wii sport seen as the games are £40 pound where i come from. I paid £40 deposit and altogether it costs £179.99 but its worth it. The update won't come for at least a year i think! Like the play station, then the second ps then the new play station 3.

The only update I am aware of is the revisions made to the controller strap. I have not heard or read otherwise.

how about you buy it now and hide it from your son until march, that'll be a lot easier.
