has anyone read the current books of the Legacy of the Force series? do you think it may be setting up for a major dissappointment?
I'm a long way off from reaching this series though, I'm still on the X-Wing series

I'm way behind on the novels, and I've pieced together only a few things about the New Jedi Order. The Legacy of the Force series takes place after that, and I haven't caught any details, only a general summary of what's supposed to be going on.

From what I read for the summaries it looks like there's supposed to be a new civil war and possibly the downfall of the New Republic. Just as the Seperatist were the seperating faction under the Old Republic it looks like this time around its the Corellians against the New Republic.

I think it's going to be kinda interesting with the Solo & Skywalker families coming down on opposite sides this time. It's hard to say if its going to be disappointing. Most Star Wars fans read the books as "interesting theories" posed by the "Expanded Universe" of comics, novels, and video games and tend to like some parts of the storylines and hate others.

Like I said, I'm behind in reading the novels and there's new books constantly coming out I don't know what part of the timeline they take place... and its like they seem to be multiplying like a clone army.

Like the X-Wing series are you reading, I got the first four books (upto The Bacta War) years ago, but never got around to reading them. They take place during the New Republic Era after ROTJ and I just looked at a book list and found out there's another (more recent) X-Wing series, technically "X-Wing Rogue Squadron Series" that takes place before the first one, during the Rebellion Era... seems like I'm never gonna be able to catch up.

I don't think the Legacy series is going to be a major disappointment, fans of the books that want the story to continue will read them to see what happens next... even if it has some unexpected events.

If you haven't heard details from the New Jedi Order I'll spare you some of the dissapointing details I came across. Wasn't happy with one of the things I found out, buit I still want to read the books... just to see how things happened.

I've read the novels in the Legacy of the Force series that have come out - Betrayal, Bloodlines, and Tempest. I don't see that they are setting up for a major disappointment for fans. Certainly there are some fans who don't want to see certain characters have certain fates (like dying, turning to the dark side, having relationships with other characters), but overall, I'm enjoying the storyline and the quality of the writing.

Without spoiling the main storyline of the series, I can say that certain main characters do end up disappointing other main characters by their actions and decisions. But that is the nature of conflict, which provides story.

I haven't read any of the Legacy of the Force books but I've read enough spoilers to understand it. SPOILER
The New Republic crumbles after the Yuuzhan Vong war. After the war, the Galactic Alliance is formed. Now, it seems the GA is falling apart too because of the Second Corellian Insurrection. The Jedi Order is falling apart too. The Solo family is also being messed up. Jacen Solo has turned to the dark side, Anakin Solo has died, and Han and Leia have joined the Corellian Rebels. The GA has called Han and Leia traitors, and Jacen wants to kill them.
