How about the length of women's skirts or dresses in relationship to the stock market? There should be information on that on the Internet as it was an actual study.
Or, how clothing changed when automobiles became common place as opposed to horses and horse drawn vehicles?
Another good study would be how blue jeans were invented and why they are still popular today.
I think another interesting paper would be why women's hats aren't worn everyday anymore or why they are more popular in England than in America?
Maybe a piece on men's ties from the beginning to now; how they have changed and why, and why men still wear them if they are uncomfortable?
The way swim wear has changed over the years and why might be more to your liking to write a paper on.

What type of clothing? Western clothing? Eastern clothing? Which century? Men? Women? Have you considered going to a library? The library has books on this subject including illustrations.
