I like Clapton too, but Jimi Hendrix, when he showed up in England and performed in front of Clapton "committed Deicide" and "killed God" (remember when the signs were up in the arenas "Eric Clapton is God"?). For electric guitar there really is not "best" but some of the greats are Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, and others. For classical guitar - Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, John Williams, and others. There are many greats, but "best" is too hard to decide.

Clapton. That man is a god. The ways he manipulates the guitar to get the sounds is pure instinct. Although Jimmie Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn come on for a close tie as well.

I would have to say Eric Clapton as well...but I also think that Jimmi Hendrix was an awesome guitarist as well!

Clapton is amazing but I would go with Jimi Hendrix because of the innovation he showed in his technique. He changed the world of guitar playing when he hit the scene.

Glimour. Not only the greatest guitarist of all time, but had the best band of all time. He, like Hendrix, just has that sound like no other.
