There are several factors that might affect cellular respiration.
Although you have not stated the main procedure or the question/purpose of the lab, here are some ideas that might generally help with any respiration lab:

1.) Amount of respirating material. Germinating peas are often used in these sorts of experiments, and to get the same result between two different trials, the same amount of peas (measured in volume, mL) must be used.

2.) Temperature. If using germinating peas, they will go through respiration faster in warmer temperatures, to a certain extent, and they will respire slower in cooler tempertatures.

3.) If using a respirometer to measure the amount of respiration that occurs, all the respirometers will have to be the same. Some respirometers measure how much oxygen disappears, due to the oxygen being used up for respiration. Other respirometers measure how much carbon dioxide is produced, a product of respiration. Usually a cotton ball soaked with potassium hydroxide aids in determination of this value, so the amount of potassium hydroxide must remain contant between the different trials.
