Go over the motherboard visually with a fine tooth comb and look for any distinctive printing of numbers or lettering and you should be able to identify the manufacturer then identify the model of main board.

The startup screen is usually generated by some lines of program residing within the Read-Only-Memory of your computer. If nothing is shown at boot time, is probably due to memory or hardware malfunction. The best way for you to find out some information about your motherboard is with the manufacturer. Look for any brand or trademark on the motherboard (watch for any serial number or model number and write it down) then browse through the internet searching that brand or mfr-name. They might be able to help you with some DOS-software to analyze your hardware.

Good luck.

you could download (for free) a program called Belarc Advisor, it scans your system for hardware and will tell you about your mobo, RAM, chipset, bus clock, BIOS...
very handy and safe
