Help plz...?

k well ive been depressed for abt 9 yrs ive been to 5 shrinks they all gave up n i havent got over depression yet but i have been hidin my emotions n depression 4 abt 1 yr now cos i felt ppl were gettin fed up of me but i cant take it anymore i just want 2 stay depressed all my life but at the same time i dont want ppl 2 get bored of me especially wen i have no friends n every1 arnd me thinks i got over depression...am kinda confused now i need help! y cant ppl just understand tht there r ppl hu just want 2 stay depressed all their life!!!! Just give me advice but dont tell me 2 go 2 a shrink theyre losers they gave up so easily they just kept sendin me 2 other shrinks so.....

there is a biological phenonenon, that if you stay depressed for long enough, your brain chemistry wants to keep you there. So it is natural that you "want to stay depressed". I understand you dont' want to hide your feelings. the only question is, can you find some activities in your life, some people who are worth not feeling depressed over? and i don't mean just pretending not to be depressed. Somethign that really makes you feel better. do something kind of risky and dangerous, that sometimes gets people out of it. Do something aggressive. find something you can enjoy.

Try reading, "Learned Optimism" by Dr. Seligman. I think you'll find it helpful. He talks about how depressed people see their life and feelings as always being bad and lasting forever: "global and pervasive" as he calls it, and then he teaches you how to fight it.

I need a little more info if you can. What did the doctors diagnose you with? And about how old are you?
