Truelyhonest99. - This is not a riddle! It was a genuine question posed as part of an "intelligence test" in a branch of the U.K. Naval entrance exam (lateral thinking or thinking out of the box). Don't get all ratty because you can't work it out.

After reading the other answers I think some got very close to the correct answer, although missed one part. I think the two OBJECTS are for recording the passage of TIME, (1) A SUNDIAL, no moving parts at all (don't say the shadow) (2) AN HOURGLASS (very large egg timer), thousands of MOVING parts, "SAND". I think this answer fits all the criteria. P.S. No watch/clock made has THOUSANDS of moving parts, I doubt any cars/planes have THOUSANDS of MOVING parts!**** P.S. just had a thought, we ALL see an hour-glass momentarily, beside the arrow-head cursor.

It could be a lot of things but the question works fine for a sundial and an electronic or mechanical watch. Or a razor and an electric shaver etc, stuff like that.

Mechanical old type clock needs to be wind with many wheels and springs.
A modern clock with LED display running with battery with no moving parts, except needles pointing hours, mts and seconds.
Both show time.

Brains. Mine has thousands of moving parts, and yours has none, judging on how you think its funny to post riddles.

Hi. I would have guessed clocks (mechanical vs electronic) but thousands? I don't think so.

Of course one is any travel machine and the other is web-cam. Both can help you see your dear ones.
If not, then how about a travel machine and imagination. Both can help you see your dear ones.
No? Then it has to be your car and shoes. They help you take somewhere.
