celebrity???? There is a distinct lack of genuine celebrities in british culture. Most are only famous (should that read infamous) because of bloody reality tv instead of something genuine. (oops time to get off my soapbox!)

I agree. I am sick of all the so called "celebrity" mags full of z list celebs doing their shopping in sainbury's. Boring. Who cares?
It seems that any talentless idiot can get their face in the papers these days. What's happened to having to actually have talent to become famous?!
I think leona on x factor is a brilliant singer, and seems like a genuinely nice person, which hopefully becoming famous won't change, as i am sick of jumped up divas thinking they are better than everybody else dominating the charts.
You arev also right about tv. It is full of mind numbing reality shows, rip off tv quiz stations and crap american shows at the mo.

The show is that bloody well over rated and its so dry i cant bear it!! the only successful reality show ever worth watching was pop idol with will young, it was the only ever time i was genuinely interested in a show of this nature, i lost count with the amount of times i voted, and as soon as the single came out, i literally sprinted to the shops to buy it!!!
Now the shows are just boring...

Opt out dude, it's still a bit depressing when you meet someone who has a TV, but it's really nice when someone tries to ask your opinion on one celebrity or another, and you honestly don't know... like, when that Crazy Frog thing was going down, I think I only heard a snippet of the tune once or twice... immune...

With you all the way mate. If any one of them had any discernible talent I'd feel better about the whole thing. But it's just a pantheon of utterly pointless people becoming famous for being utterly pointless.
Take refuge in books and intelligent friends. That's what I do.

actually, I hate celebrities too! the media think the British poeple are so hollow, and that our whole lives revolve around celebrities. The only famous people I like are Noddy Holder and Kelly Brook

No your not theres far too much hype about so called celebrities who swank around thinking they are the bees knees when most of them are pretty useless.They get paid a fortune while hard working people in worthwhile jobs are poorly paid and get no recognition.

At last someone else who has seen the light!! I am totally mind nummingly bored to death with these formulaic reality TV, celebrity ossessed TV programs. Its got so bad that I even switch off let alone switch over.
**Such programs are the dreggs!!! and if your prepared to watch them you then you lower yourself, you dumb your brain down with them too.
**Frankly, I could give a kangaroos Jock strap who said or did what with who?
YEP! you can guess who gave us 57 channels and nothing on!!?
Yet another American export as usual. The only difference is now its 100 or even 1,000 channels (if you have sky?) and nothing on.
**NOP! give me quality over (dumbed down) quantity any day. I dont need the aquarium channel thanks! I've got better things too do with my life.
