in my divorce i demanded my ex give up my last name and take her maiden name back. the judge, she ordered my ex to have her name changed back with in 30 day's. where i am from, your last name means every thing. it will open doors for you, or get them shut in your face. i did not want her to tarnish the name any farther than she already had. god you got a love a female judge that will agree with the man.

I'm in Ohio, so not sure how similiar the laws are out in Pennsylvania but when I got divorced in 1998, I made sure that I told my Lawyer that I wanted to go back to my maiden name and it was spelled out in my divorce papers that my name was restored back to my maiden name. Make sure you see this in the divorce papers and I believe the judge even mentioned it in court, the day of my divorce. Great Luck to you.

It is not legally necessary.
If you keep your x's name, be careful that people don't get too accustomed to referring to you that way. If and when you get married in the future, people will still call you by that name out of habit. It will be offensive to your future husband.
Good luck!

Of course. Why would you want to stick with the name of the guy you have just got rid of?

You can keep whatever name you want just as long as you use it consistently. My mom kept her married name because all of us have it.
