No because if that word is banded then so would every other cuss word, and then you dont know how many crazy court cases would shoot up b/c someone said N****a. But it is an issue of respect. I dont know why people make it seem like black people are such hypocrites, b/c its just like females being mad b/c a boy calls them a *****, but they call each other b!tches. Certain people feel a differently when that word is addressed to them, others tolarated it, and some dont. I'm black and I dont mind that word, but I will admit that I frown when I hear a white person says it. It shouldnt be banned, but people just need to learn how to be respectful, b/c the person you call that might not let you get away with it.

Well most of the time the people I hear say this word are African American. So if it is as you claim a big issue in the black community then they should set the example by not saying it.

First of all this is not a zoology question, and secondly, i think that the way the black community is promoting the word constantly in music, and movies, I think they like the word. If it were so insulting would they be calling themselves that all the time???
It doesn't make sense........
besides how do you put a ban on a word????

its really degrading to regard anyone with the N word, its just totally unnessecy, and I feel we should drop that N word from our white vocabulary, and the Blacks should drop that honkey word.We need to start regarding everyone as human beings...Don,t you think it would be nicer to add more love into this world and not to stir up hate with comments that is unnessary? It does me a lot to the black community because it is disrespectful............also that F word needs to stop also. What is the point of having a conversation and always throwing in filithy words.?

banded? i don't think so, i don't know if its possible to put a rubber band around a word, but I'm sure that if they figure out a way, they will do it
i think people should be allowed to use whatever word they want whenever they want to... if they want to trot around using epithets and slurs, then lets let people make fools of themselves because anyone who uses a word like "******" to be hateful is just foolish, ignorant, and probably doesn't have very much to add to society (like michael richards or mel gibson)

I think that's up to African-Americans to decide. I'm not trying to stereotype anyone, but listen to Dirt off Your Shopulders by Jay-Z. I like the song but its just one example of how african-american people use it with each other, usually in a way to tell other African-Americans that they're not any better than them, they're equal in strengths and weaknesses. White people shouldn't be saying it at all because since they're (we're) white, we have no rights to degrade people of other races to our level by describing them as someone equal to us. In that case we'd be N*s. It should be banned among all but African-Americans, but only because they usually use it when they need to express that another African-American is like they're brother, of the same turf and no better to them. As whites with the C* word and Jews with the K* word, and Islamic people with too many words used all over [note: they are offended when you say they are "Moslims" its muslim.] And everyone with anything. {note I apologize if I have been too excessive in the use of my examples} It should be banned all else and otherwise.

Why is this question in the Zoology category? If it is such a big issue, then they should stop using it also when addressing one another. It is very disrespectful to use it no matter who is saying it.
