source says that after awhile Wii controllers lose their grip, and also lose their ability to match their movements on the tv. Is this true? If so, why?

It's not the Wii that's being recalled; it is the wrist strap.

Supposedly a certain group of people (dumbasses) lose their grip on the controller, causing the controller to fly into people or things. Some of these people claim that the wrist strap would snap.

I agree that the wrist strap is a bit weak, but in order to send it flying to other objects and/or people is a bit much. It takes a little excessive force to snap the strap, and even more excessive force to hurt or damage something.

The wii is not being recalled but the little strap on the wiimote is. But, it's because new gamers who have no experience in gaming whatsoever decide to throw their controllers at the tv like 90 mph. Thus, the strap breaks and there goes your flat screen. Personally, I think this is all the player's fault for not being careful and being stupid.

P.S Nintendo has doubled the thickness of the replacement strap for the recall.
