This past week a death row inmate was put to death by lethal injection. Apparently something went wrong and it took 1/2 hour for him to die. Doesn't the first shot put you to sleep like when having a surgical procedure, the remainder are to insure death. When having surgery you do not feel the doctor cutting you, so my question is why are so many having a fit about it. So it took a half an hour, did the person they killed die suddenly, suffer for a time or die in the hospital after surgery? They and their family suffered more than this inmate did. At least it is more humane than the gas chamber or electirc chair. Opinions please, not here for a pro or con fight, just what the general public feels.

I just don't get all of this. Wasn't the purpose of the execution to kill a murderer (who probably wasn't even supposed to be in the country)? And didn't the execution kill him?

So if the execution did what it was supposed to do, what was botched about it? That it took too long? Puh leaze.

And CNN wants to make a big deal out of the fact that this clown grimaced? Has CNN made any mention at all of the facial expressions of Joseph Nagy after this murderer began to shoot him to death.

It seems that liberals want to pervert justice, coddle the guiltiest among us (death row inmates) and murder the most innocent among us (the unborn). And then they wish to argue that Conservatives are trying to peddle poisonous ideas that will damage the nation.

*sigh*

Apparently, he took some time to die. The injection went in the wrong vein and caused him a great deal of pain. What I'm interested to find out is what did he do to deserve the death penalty. I'm sure he wasn't there for speeding. He probably did something horrible and I don't care if he suffered. Like you said their victims probably suffered more and they didn't took pity on them. This is a just punishment for people that don't appreciate human life. This inmate doesn't deserve a quick death but a slow, painful death. That is what the death penalty should be all about. We are becoming too soft on crime.

Like so many have said, "What about the victims and their families?"
I couldn't really care less about the person and how they suffered when given the injection. They didn't care if or how much their victims suffered.
I say they should shorten the time between conviction and sentence. Twenty years or more on death row is ridiculous.

Its just really hypocritical to kill someone for killing.
There have been MANY more "botched" executions and MANY innocent people have been executed! This is not the 1800's! It costs a damn lot to do, they should get it right! The victim has usually been dead for decades, the family has moved on. I would NEVER go and watch another death, it wouldnt be healthy or help me in any way to deal with my loved ones death.

I read that the inmate had severe liver problems and a double dose was needed to perform the execution. Officials let the public know of this before hand. It was not botched.

I honestly do not care about a convicted killer. They deserve to die for depriving an innocent person of their life and liberty.

There will be plenty of liberals who cry that because of 1 problem, the whole thing needs to be thrown out.

apparently the needle slipped out of the vein resulting in the injection being intramuscular instead of intravenous as intended. Either way he deserved to die. Personally I fully endorse capital punishment, using either the electric chair, or firing squad, and I believe it should be televised

No, the first shot doesn't knock you out. It merely paralyzes, so people won't be disturbed by seeing the prisoner thrashing around in pain. He's conscious through the whole thing.

I agree with you. How soon we forget the victims and their families.
