Can I use the USB port on my DVR Cable Box?

I noticed I have a USB port on my DVR Cable Box. I tried inserting my sandisk memory stick. The light on the stick lit up, but there was no prompt on the cable box to do anything. Is there a way to transfer recorded shows onto a media stick?

Depends on whether your cable company activates the port. My company activates all outgoing ports but none that are setup for input work. Ask your cable company.

Some DVRs have a home networking feature that let you connect a USB-network adapter to your box and connect to other DVRs in your home. As far as I know, this only works with standalone Tivos, not the DirecTivo.
