If you want to be a doctor, go to a four year college rather than a junior college. It will be easier to get pre-med counseling, and your intro courses in bio and chem will have better instructors and better labs.

Honestly, just go to the best undergraduate college to which you can gain admission, and keep the highest possible GPA while there. It does not matter one bit whether you go to Stanford, Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. They're all fantastic schools, and you'd get great pre-med coursework and counseling at any of them. Frankly, if you can't get into any of them, don't despair, there are dozens of colleges out there that are just as prestigious, and provide just as fine an education. (Examples: The "Little Ivies," the "Seven Sisters," etc.)

Just be sure to volunteer in the medical field throughout high school and college, get a great score on the MCATs before the end of the first semester of your senior year of college, and you'll get into a fine medical school.

1) I went straight to a public 4-year university, and my wife and my brother both went to junior colleges then transferred.

The only reason you should go straight into a 4-year university is if you have a scholarship. Your first 2 years at a 4-year school most of your classes are taught by graduate students instead of professors, classes are huge, (these may be different at a private college, but they're WAY pricier) and junior colleges are always cheaper. The instructors at junior colleges are often even better teachers than professors because they're hired to teach, while professors' main job is to do research and teach a few classes on the side. Also, class sizes are generally smaller.

But, like I said, if you've got enough scholarships or if money isn't an issue, going straight into a 4-year school isn't a bad option.

2) All 4 of those schools you mentioned should have pre-med programs, which is what you want to major in to become a doctor. But unless you've got a scholarship or your parents are going to pay for your education, I would just go to a local junior college, then to a 4-year state university, then when you're about to graduate, apply to a good med school such as the ones you mentioned, if your grades and test scores are good enough to get in.
