All they do is stick the enema wand in her, let the water out slowly and they will tell her to let them know if she gets too uncomfortable (I mean not that an enema is comfortable to start out with) or feels too "full", or is in any pain. Then when the waterbag is empty, they will put a bed pan under her and everything will come out. It's really no big deal, but to an 11 yr. old, I can understand her fear. She will be totally covered up and I'm sure, because she's only 11, that they will let you stay with her.

The tests that they will be performing tomorrow at the hospital are very important. Tell your daughter that she will be fine. It really is nothing to be upset about, she is a big girl and will be back to herself in no time. The enema will be out of her system in no time flat. It will take a couple trips to the bathroom, but the Nurses will make sure that she is okay to go home. Good Luck little girl. You seem to have a wonderful parent who cares alot.

When we were young, because of the diet we had (war baby) we had enemas every other week from the district nurse. About a quarter pint of luke warm soapy water - through a tube - up the anus and whoosh - the constipation is gone for another week or so. Of course she will be nervous for the first time, it's a bit personal. Stay with her but wear an apron and stand clear when you see the bed pan. No pain at all. Tell her to relax and joke about it - our family still does 60 years later...............

she'll be fine. they'll have her covered up. All they do is put some lube on insert the enema and then everything comes back out in like 10 seconds. it doesn't hurt at all and i promise you she will feel better after wards.tell your daughter i said good luck and hope everything goes well with her. and they should set you stay in the room with her because she is a minor.

Let your daughter know that the doctors have to do what they have to do. It will not hurt, I had to get one before I delivered my son. She won't be covered up. but, she'll feel a whole lot better after it's all said and done. Of course you can stay with her, my mom was with me. Just make her feel as comfortable as possible, it will be over before she knew it began.
