Something many people neglect with a healing area, is sun exposure. it's brand new skin and will burn, aggrevating scarring. Use sun screen on healing injuries when they are past the point of needing to be covered. Also, as was said before, any infection will increase scarring. If you use peroxide to clean your wounds, it should be rinsed out quickly with saline ( the stuff used for contact lenses will often do, but I like a type named Wound Wash). It (the peroxide) can damage the cells and retard healing even though it's hard to beat for cleansing the minor stuff.
