Did you get a second neurologists opinion? Doctors aren't perfect.
You didn't provide too many details. Did you not like being around people before the accident? Were you able to connect simple thoughts before the accident? Can you give an example of connecting or not connecting simple thoughts?

Well, maybe you should see the phychiatrist... it can't hurt to see what he says. And, if you try some meds for awhile, it might help... maybe you'd even enjoy being with people if you were feeling better. These meds aren't just for 'sadness'- and if I'd been hit by a truck and had some of the problems you described here and on your profile, I would almost certainly be struggling with clinical depression. If you try what they say and it helps, wouldn't you feel better and be glad you tried????

It seems to me that you need to follow through with the docs' recommendation to see a psychiatrist. If that many professionals have evaluated you, they have ruled out cognitive disorders for the cause of your problem.
You can actually be depressed without feeling "sad". Depression can cause disintegration of thought processing, poor comprehension, and the desire to isolate.
