Personally I'd assume that Barry Zito will end up with the New York Mets for about six years and 15 million per.
This is because:
1) Zito wants to go to a big market team
2) New York Mets have the cash
3) New York Mets need one more piece to make them legitimate World Series favorites
4) The Yankees and the Sox have no interest in him
5) The Dodgers signed Jason Schmidt
6) Zito will not sign with the Texas Rangers no matter what given its ballpark's reputation as a hitters' nightmare.
Basically the only reason he hasn't signed yet is because Scott Boras wants to wait until Jeff Suppan has signed, thus exhausting all of the top starters on the market and making Zito the last available big time starter and driving his already sky-high price, just a bit higher.

The Mets are the frontrunners, as they have the cash, desire, and have yet to pull off anything significant this offseason as they tend to do (Delgado last year, Beltran two years ago). They're a contender team in the NL, with a powerful offense to provide Zito run support. They also need Zito for a weak rotation because of an injured Pedro, an old Glavine, and basically no one else.
But don't discount the Rangers yet. They've been known to make crazy deals (A-Rod stands out quite a bit). The biggest factor favoring the Rangers is it looks like they are demonstrating a strong interest in Mark Mulder. Capturing Mulder, could entice Zito to the Rangers to reunite two of the Big Three back in their days with Oakland.
I still think it will be the Mets though.

I'm a huge Mets fan and they'll get him. The Mets have a very fragile rotation and Omar can't think that this is the rotation ready for opening day. The Mets will try to say that Zito bleongs in NY and shows Ny around. The Mets will land zito for about 6 yrs 105 million.
They also reportley set up a face to face meeting with him in New York for next week. The Decsison could come as soon as Next Week

Mets. It's a much better fit for Zito's career and even though the Mets say they won't ante up $100mil, they'll probably come up with $85-90.

Texas or New york......
i would put my money on texas. their pitching has been awful the last couple of years, and zito would make them an instant contender.
