I'm curios about owning a pet fox but not sure if it is legal?

I hope not...a fox belongs in the wild !

It's just the way our legal and political system works. You have local ordinances, then you have state laws and regulations, and then there are federal laws and regulations. All are pretty much determined by the majority, and even worse yet sometimes special interest groups get their way. And to add to the confusion, all these different rules and regulations can be at odds with each other. Welcome to our mixed up political system that is the USA. But more to your intended point. Some species have become domesticated and thus accepted by society, while other species are considered 'exotic', which of late has become a dirty word. Not that tthese so called exotic species couldn't make great pets, just that they are not the usual species that people have come to accept.

I lived in Texas 3 years ago I had a pet fox so of course it`s legal

you cant jsut get animals out from the wild.. if you want a pet go somewhere where you can buy one like a pet store. go on google and see where you can buy pets that you want that are local for you.
