There're studies linking hot tub usage to a higher rate of miscarriage, and studies that link _fevers_ to birth defects, but nothing's terribly conclusive, and cause-and-effect isn't well-established, it seems. 'Linked,' not 'proven,' and absolutely no 'here's why and how it happens.'

A cold will not harm the baby even if you feel terrible. I got one a couple weeks before I delivered and it was awful. I just took Halls and Vicks but later asked my doctor about it and said Tylenol is also safe for pregnancy. Also, get plenty of rest because this is extra strain on your body so your system demands more rest. Plenty of fluids will help flush the bug out, hot tea and chicken soup are good. I drank plenty of hot water with lemon while I was sick too. Goodluck and I hope you feel better! Also, a cold during pregnancy may last a bit longer due to the fact that your defenses are lowered to protect the baby.

I've never heard that, but I could see it being uncomfortable for a baby to be in such high temps as well as the pressure from being underwater at the same time.

They say it is bad for the baby, but also it can make you feel light headed when you stand up to get out of the bath, which is more dangerous incase you fall over.
Best to have it at elbow temp the same as you would for a babies bath

Think about it, not only do they raise the mother's temperature, but temp of the amniotic fluid. It would be like putting your unborn child in a pot of hot water on the stove.

It raises your core body temperature which can be harmful to a developing fetus - the increase in temp can affect development greatly. You don't get this effect with showers...

The temperature will get way too hot. It's already hot in your body - which is the perfect temp.

It can cause a miscarriage.
I know a woman that meant to cause herself to miscarry by getting in a bathtub full of the hottest water she could stand
