what about using boa yarn around it like over laping the edges but not cris cross sewing?? or is that too much
any ideas?

You can always sew on a binding around your edges just like you'd do for a "quilt" --even some regular blankets have bindings.

You could choose virtually any fabric to use (patterned or not), and you make the binding narrow, wide, or whatever width you want.

Then there are various ways to sew on a binding, and you can also do it by machine, by hand, or step one by machine then step two by hand.

I'm not much into sewing but you idea sounds great.

One year, I received a blanket (handmade) through a christmas game. The blanket edges were cut from the edge to about 4 inches into the blanket to make strips or a thick fringe edge. Easy but it looked great.

Yes, you can use yarn to make an interesting edging. Try using a whip stitch (that's what I think you're talking about) or a blanket stitch, there are many decorative stitches you can use with yarn and a tapestry needle

well u could just use a zigzag stitch off ur sewing machine. u could also just single crochet around it if u r just trying to use up ur yarn good luck and merry xmas
