As you say it is an older version, I assume that you will be having an application called Versa Mail on the device. You can configure your email account in it and HotSync your emails.

Now there can be two possiblities(with an assumtion you do not have any data signal on that device). You can configure your email account such a way that when you HotSync your device, it will make use of the internet connection of the computer and get all the emails from your Mail Server onto the device. The other way to set the account is to Sync all the Offline emails, I mean the eamils which are in your Outlook or Outlook Express when you HotSync your device. If I had the exact model number of your device, I would have given you the instructions.

However, you can always visit the Palm Support page and check for more details. http://www.palm.com/us/support/

You can try the Palm Pilot website. Many companies are putting the software on there for free since many people loose the software. You should be able to download the one for your model.

palm.com's support section includes support for Handsprings. Choose your model in the support section, and download palm desktop for it.
