14 yo boy or girl?
Computer games (like Sims2 or an add on for Sims2) could work for both, other than that it would be clothes or CDs or a DVDs

Wow? The first gift you need to give is the gift of paying attention to him or her. What does (he) talk about? what are his activities, his favorite sport, or hobby? What are his dreams, what does he want to do when he grows up?
Then and only then will you prove your "Christmas Love" for that child.
Inexpensive?
Believe it or not, A jigsaw puzzle could really hit the spot. But, it has to have a theme (picture) of something that is of interest to the child. Sure, sure, the childs enthusiasm will be slow at first, and then, ....... and then ,,,, you just watch. "This piece fits, this piece fits, can anyone find which piece fits here?"
Soon, several people will be sharing in the quest to assemble the picture. -- Sharing, sharing, sharing, that's "what it is all about"

Well, it depends if it's a boy or a girl. Girls would love clothes and cds, and guys would like cds or maybe even the new XB360 or PS3, though those ARE expensive.
If they don't have on already, you could get them a cell phone or a new one.
