ok, so i grow a row of grapevines in my backyard. This last summer the birds ate ALL of my vines. I don't want to net them...too much trouble.

I would like to install birdfeeders on the fence. I need to know what to put into the bird feeders that will kill the birds. I was hopeful for using rice (explodes in their stomach) but it was an old wives tales and doesn't work.

Please respond only to advise on things that WILL kill birds, that they will eat and is cheap to purchase. Thank!

INSTALL some kitty cats. I would venture to say what you are proposing to do is completely illegal in the 1st place.
Cats, well, everyone knows they like them tasty birds if they get in the way. I would consider them (cats) a natural predator.

Instead of killing the birds, you can chase them off - here, some places use recording of hawks to get the birds to leave (I've seen it used in outdoor restaurants, wooded shopping areas, some parks that were infested with pigeons...) It works pretty well. Or, if you have the energy, actually get a hawk for your property. (google hawking for more info)
BTW - no matter how many birds you kill, there will always be more, and by the time you do get manage to do it, the grapes will already be eaten - so I don't think killing them is very reasonable.

Try poisening them. You know a little poisen goes a long way. But if you don't want to do that then you may want to try shooting them. Like on Failure to Launch. Scare them away.
