If you consider a black hole to be any object where the escape velocity exceeds the speed of light then the universe is a black hole and we are witin its event horizon.
If you had a rocket that could go the speed of light and set out in a straight line, your path would bend due to the combined mass of all matter in the universe. Since the path is curved, you can never escape from the known universe. Neither can light or other forms of radiation so the universe is essentialy closed off from the rest of space.

interesting idea
but no, i think not, because we see other galaxies moving away from us.
the only position within a black hole i suppose to be the space between event horizon and surface, cause on the surface we would be nothing more than glob.
if we were somewhere between event horizon and surface of a black hole we would (so i think) observe everything travelling down to the center, and light possibly coming just from above.
an interesting approach would be how such a hole would look like taking an excentric approach in having a few more dimensions to make us observe exactly that, what we observe.

It would be easy to detect a black hole so close. It would emmit a large amount of x-rays, enough to flood any instruments we have for detecting x-rays, and everything in our area would be orbiting around it. The matter in our immediate vicinity orbits our sun, and the stars in our neighborhood do not orbit a specific central point other than the centre of our galaxy, so there can't be a black hole close to Earth.

I say if we got sucked into a black hole we wouldn't know it, cause it's a black hole..As for how can we know before it happens i think the government would keep it hushed so people would not go berserk.
